The Nutcracker comes alive in two Campbell River performances

River-Port Danceworks show featured professional dancers Danielle Gould and Giovanni Giordano

The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, enchanted audiences during two performances at the Tidemark Theatre on Saturday. The production featured two professional dancers, Danielle Gould as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Giovanni Giordano as her Cavalier, shown here closing the show. This was the fourth annual production of The Nutcracker by River-Port Danceworks, bringing together dancers ages five and up from the company’s Port Alberni and Campbell River locations – Stage West School of Performing Arts and Studio North Dance Academy, respectively – along with dancers from Courtenay’s Ilha Ballet Academy. The show also featured two special guests – Akane Shimizu and Kieran Yip – from Victoria Ballet Academy’s post-secondary bridge program, which prepares students for a professional career.
