The Okanagan is ready to laugh

The Okanagan Comedy Festival is back in Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton

Enjoy some giggles this August with a comedy tour.

The Okanagan Comedy Festival is back for its fourth hilarious year. From Aug. 24 to 26 there will be more than twenty comedians descending on the region bringing laughter from across Canada.

This year the growing festival will also add new bar venues, wineries and theatre locations in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and Kamloops.

Newly incorporated as a nonprofit arts society, the Okanagan Comedy Festival is expanding their repertoire and growing into a full-fledged festival that is attracting the attention of the Canadian comedy scene as well as local comedy fans, according to a festival press release.

Event founder, president and long-time headline comedian Lars Callieou is excited about this year’s event.

“After three years of testing out the market we really believe there is an appetite for a festival like ours. This year we are taking the plunge and bringing on board an event manager to help take our beautiful dream and turn it into the reality of a full-fledged Comedy Festival,” he said.

Headline comedian Tim Nutt has also joined the festival board of directors and will be helping the organization grow into a world class event.

“My career takes me far and wide telling my jokes, but I love living in such a great place like the Okanagan. Being able to help start a comedy festival in my own backyard brings together the best of both worlds,” he said. “

I am looking forward to us bringing in some of the best and brightest of my comedy colleagues to share the laughs will all my neighbors in the years to come”.

Venues for this year’s Festival include Dakoda’s in Kelowna, the Red Rooster Winery in Penticton, the Green Village Hotel in Vernon and Bailey’s Pub along with the Central Station Pub in Kamloops, with more to be announced soon.

Tickets and schedule details are available online. You can also call the festival office at 1-888-855-8522 or email for more information.
