The Ultimate Revy Pub Crawl

Looking for a good night on the town? Here's reporter Alex Cooper's recommended route for a bar crawl around Revelstoke.

1. The Village Idiot

Start off your night with dinner at the Village Idiot at on Mackenzie Avenue. The food is great and the portions are big, so you’ll get a healthy dose of sustenance to help soak up the booze you’ll be consuming later. A pint of Mt. Begbie Tall Timber goes well with any meal.

2. The Cabin

Once you’re done eating, head over to The Cabin at the corner of First and Orton for some bowling and one of their classic cocktails. They’ve got several dozen unique concoctions available and the five pin bowling is always a blast.

3. The Last Drop

After the fun is over, head on over to the Last Drop for a bit more drinking. With nightly drink specials and frequent live music, it’s a great spot to pick up the pace. There’s a huge selection of beer on tap here.

4. The Traverse

Now that you’re feeling tipsy, it’s time to get your dance on. That means stumble on over to the Traverse, which is across the street from The Cabin. There are DJs here every night, a pool table, foozeball, table hockey and more.

5. The River City Pub

When the Traverse closes down at 1 a.m., it’s time to head next door to the River City Pub, a Revelstoke classic. This is where everyone ends up at the end of the night and it and the Last Drop are the only bars to stay open until 2 a.m. (the Traverse is applying for extended hours). Dance to the music of DJ Wayno or whatever band is playing.

Alternatives:

The Big Eddy Pub

The Big Eddy Pub is where grizzled long-time locals mix with dirt-bag ski bums. The food is good and the atmosphere is friendly. Like the Grizzly, Wednesday wing night is popular and there’s often a band playing. It’s out of the way, so you’re best off to make it your first stop of the night and then take the free shuttle downtown from there.

The Grizzly Sports Bar

The Grizzly is a popular apres-work option. If you want to catch the game during the night, stop here first before moving on. Wednesday wing night is a big hit.

Benoit’s Wine Bar

You might want to add some class into your night so if that’s the case, head over to Benoit’s and enjoy the fine selection of wine (and liquors) available.

Note: This article was corrected from a previous version to indicate that the Last Drop is also open until 2 a.m., not just the River City Pub.
