Coming Home, a theatrical production directed by Mary Boonstra and presented by Groove Force Productions, opens Dec. 1 in Abbotsford.
The production tells three stories about connection and how we can become disengaged from those around us.
The show, performed at the Abbotsford Community Arts Addition (2329 Crescent Way), runs Dec. 1, 7 and 8 with matinee and evening performances.
Coming Home, which runs approximately one hour, is relevant to all ages and appropriate for audiences ages seven and up.
“We don’t take the time for relationships. We don’t make ourselves a priority or perhaps we are too busy and focused on our work and distractions,” Boonstra says.
“That can lead to feeling alienated or isolated. These feelings can happen with friends, within families, and with colleagues. It can take a momentous event to change the path of our relationships, but it shouldn’t.”
Boonstra began working on Coming Home almost immediately after wrapping 2017’s Find My Way, another show produced by Groove Force Productions that premiered in Abbotsford.

Coming Home tells stories through music, dance and acting to create a thought-provoking and entertaining theatrical experience.
As with Find My Way, Coming Home highlights the talents of local performers, with a cast of 65 whose ages range from eight to 80.
A portion of the money raised from ticket and concession sales will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley.
The production takes place in a thrust stage with the audience around three sides.
Boonstra says every seat is great and will give the audience a close and intimate experience of the action.
“We want audience members to enjoy their experience, but also to come away from the production thinking about the connections they have in their lives and how those connections help pull us all through tough times,” she says.
“Those connections can be vital and we need to cherish those relationships.”
