‘Q’emcín 2 Rivers Remix (2RMX), now in its second year, is excited to announce that the 2019 two-day musical feast will showcase more than 20 original Indigenous musical artists. Hosted again by Ostwelve, his infectious energy will keep the musical flow going throughout the weekend.

The headliners include: Quantum Tangle, who create a truly unique Indigenous soundscape, fusing their Anishnaabe-Metis and Inuit roots to their music; and DJ Shub, formerly of “A Tribe Called Red,” an award-winning DJ who spins traditional Indigenous music with electronic beats, to create his new sound, PowWowStep.

A Sunday highlight is the 2RMX Elder Series, which celebrates Indigenous musicians who have had extensive careers and are still performing to this day.

Juno award winner Murray Porter, a well-known bluesman across Turtle Island, is bringing his band and fellow musician, Helene Duguay, who will showcase her songs. The series also includes artists Willie Thrasher & Linda Saddleback, and Gordon Dick Sr. whose songs were part of the Grammy-nominated compilation Native North America Volume 1.

‘Q’emcín 2 Rivers Remix (2RMX) is a free two-day outdoor feast of contemporary Indigenous music and culture hosted by the Nlaka’pamux Nation and the Village of Lytton. It will run from 1 to 11 p.m. on July 6 and 7. The full line-up of Indigenous artists at 2RMX will be announced in the coming weeks.

Artistic Director Meeka Morgan (Secwepemc/Nuu-Chah-Nulth/Nlaka’pamux heritage), says 2RMX showcases exciting new Indigenous artists that will inspire people from all Nations.

“We have Indigenous performances from almost any musical genre from hip-hop to folk, metal to blues, funk to electronic, rock to reggae – and more than half the lead performers are women while one-third are youth.”

Surrounded by stunning canyon vistas, 2 Rivers Remix will feature outdoor live performance stages with music, spoken word, and dance, as well as video screenings, interactive workshops with festival artists, a large scale outdoor Indigenous collaborative art exhibition, and an Indigenous Artisan street market.

2RMX will engage new audiences with a danceable remix of urban/rez, visual/musical, hip-hop/pow-wow, and personal/political.
