Three Sooke writers short listed for short fiction contest

David Reichheld, Jim Bottomley, and Sheila Thomas among 12 honourees

Three Sooke authors have been named to the short list for a new short fiction contest sponsored by the Federation of British Columbia Writers.

The authors include David Reichheld for Let Morning Bring Me , Jim Bottomley for Running with Salmon, and Sheila Thomas for Rewind. All are also members of the Sooke Writers’ Collective.

“The fact that three of the 12 short-listed entries are from Sooke really demonstrates the outstanding quality of our local writers and their work,” said Doni Eve, vice-president of the FBCW.

Winners will be announced on July 30. First prize is $350 with the winning entry published in WordWorks, the magazine of the FBCW. The B.C. Short, a competition for original, unpublished short stories, 1,200 to 2,000 words, invited fiction submissions from around the world.
