2. It’s all about food and related fun during Olde Harvest Fair, an annual event held at Historic Stewart Farm. The first such fair was held waaaaaay back in 1888, and the tradition continues this coming Saturday, Sept. 24 from noon to 3 p.m. As always, the fall harvest will be celebrated with a bounty of food, neighbourly competitions and music. This year’s event will feature local food vendors and artisans, The Re-enactors historical theatre troupe, music by the Central Fraser Valley Fiddlers, washboard and acoustic-guitar music, “potato sack” races, cider pressing and butter-making demos and, of course, tours of the heritage farmhouse, at 13723 Crescent Rd., South Surrey. Be sure to bring along a non-perishable food item to give to the South Surrey/White Rock Food Bank. Call 604-592-6956 or visit Surrey.ca/heritage.
