Ladies prepare to be thunderstruck. Australia’s All-Male Revue will be returning to the Mary Winspear Centre to show off their chiseled bodies, choreographed dance moves and their up close and interactive experience.
“We keep coming back and every time we come back, the shows just keep getting bigger and bigger. So we can’t wait to come back,” said one of the six dancers and host of the show, Dylan Yeandle.
Forming in 1991, Thunder From Down Under began in Las Vegas and has two touring teams, with one based in Las Vegas. In Canada, a troop of six dancers of Australia’s most eligible men tour around the country.
“It’s a really high energy show. It goes for about an hour and a half. There’s acrobatics and of course the guys dress up in characters that women find appealing, and it’s just a great ladies night out,” Yeandle told the PNR.
He said the show allows women to come out and blow off some steam after a long work week.
The ladies also get an opportunity to meet the guys and have a picture taken with them at the end of the show.
“All the guys are very down to earth. Here at Thunder we don’t tolerate any ego so I think that’s why the show’s been so successful over the years. We make it more about the women.”
So how do these men get their washboard abs and strong looking physique? Constant workouts and a strict diet.
Yeandle said they have their cheat meals every now and then, but they’re at the gym every day and rehearse dance routines for the fully choreographed show.
Yeandle’s favourite cheat meal? In and Out Burger!
In the group for around four years, Yeandle said he has enjoyed touring around the world, seeing new places, meeting all sorts of people, and has especially enjoyed performing to a room full of screaming women, he said.
The Aussies have made many guest appearances and have been featured on shows like Ellen De Generes, Live with Regis and Kelly and even a new Disney movie, Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, where they were able to meet Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner.
The performance is June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charlie White Theatre. For tickets, call 250-656-0275 or visit marywinspear.ca.
