Nanaimo chorus joined by Mamma’s Boys

Tidesmen Barbershop Chorus members are bringing their sweet harmonies to Nanaimo listeners.

The chorus hosts its annual spring concert, Harmony at the Port, Saturday (May 6) at 7 p.m. at the Port Theatre. The show features special guests Momma’s Boys. The quartet, which hails from Seattle, is comprised of four brothers: Michael, Sean, Steven and Ian Kelly.

“Our honesty leads to passion, our passion leads to performance, our performance leads to art,” said Michael Kelly, on the Momma’s Boys’ website.

The male a cappella chorus sings a variety of genres from Broadway standards, blues, rock ‘n’ roll to medieval hymns and inspirational songs.

The Tidesmen is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, which has more than 70,000 members worldwide. The group regularly performs during community events throughout the mid-Island.

The Tidesmen welcome anyone interested in becoming a member to stop by the group’s meetings, which are held the first Monday at each month at Costin Hall in Lantzville.
