The Around Town Tellers are sharing their storytelling secrets during an upcoming workshop.
People can learn how to share oral stories from tellers Margaret Murphy and Laurie (Peck)Hutchinson Friday (Feb. 22) 6:30-9 p.m. and Saturday (Feb. 23) 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Refreshments will be served but people are asked to bring their own lunch for the Saturday workshop.
Murphy started sharing stories as a child during puppet shows in her backyard. She loves coaching, teaching storytelling and celebrating tales of pioneering Canadian women.
Hutchinson has told stories since she was two. Her first submission to the Brucedale Press Arcostic Competition in 2002 received an honourable mention.
The sessions are interactive and will help people learn the practical and fundamental steps in preparing, learning and sharing a short story. It is meant to give attendees more confidence and a greater appreciation of storytelling.
There is a maximum of 14 participants. To register or for more information please call 250-729-9994 or e-mail storyshare@shaw.ca.
