Music

• Thursday, Gyro Park, 7 p.m. Kootenay Savings Music in the Park presents Vishtèn. Acadian trio Vishtèn dazzles with a fiery blend of traditional French songs and original instrumentals that fuse Celtic and Acadian genres with a modern rock sensibility and indie-folk influences. Bring a lawn chair, $2 admission donation suggested.

• Friday, Trail Market on the Esplanade, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hosted by City of Trail and United Way of Trail and District. Family favourite, features vendors selling fresh produce, handmade jewelry, soaps, clothing, baking, home decor and much more.

• Aug. 26, 1300 block of Cedar Avenue, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Trail’s incrEDIBLE Farmers Market. Volunteer-run, supporting locally grown, raised, baked and wildly harvested goods. Runs again Sept. 9, 23; Oct. 7, 29.

• Aug. 30, Trail Market on the Esplanade, 4-8 p.m. Special Night Market Edition. Community market features vendors who sell fresh produce, handmade jewellery, fragrant soaps, fashionable clothing, sweet and savoury baking, home décor items, ready-to-eat food and more.

• Aug. 31, Gyro Park, 7 p.m. Kootenay Savings Music in the Park closes the 2017 season with Old-Time Fiddlers. Timeless tunes from this band of merrymakers. Bring a lawn chair, $2 admission donation suggested.

• Sept. 7, Royal Theatre, 7 p.m. showing Jonas Kaufmann: My Italy. German tenor Jonas Kaufmann introduces My Italy, a very special concert-documentary. Puccini and Verdi are not the main composers chosen for the event, however, but rather the golden hits by Nino Rota and Lucio Dalla.

• Sept. 9, Haley Park, Kootenay Savings Outdoor Movie Night presenting “Sing.” Admission by donation to local food bank. Bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation along with lawn chairs, blankets and wear something warm. Concessions and washroom facilities will be available.

• Sept. 8, Victoria Street Bridge, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. annual Coins for Change fundraiser. Sleep under the bridge, all proceeds go towards the CDS Getting to Home program, addressing homelessness in Greater Trail. For details, call CDS 250.364.1104.
