On now until Aug. 21 at the Cowichan Valley Arts Council’s Cowichan Community Centre space is a show called “Inspired by Travel” featuring the colourful art of Rohana Laing, a retired United Church minister who travelled extensively in Mexico. The exhibit is in the Annex.

From Aug. 23 to Sept. 8 “Mycelium Forest” takes centre stage, with works from three artists from Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island. The works are inspired by mushroom patterns. You can also meet the artist on Monday, Aug. 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the gallery.

Then, from Aug. 27 to Sept. 25 comes “Watershed: Through the Lens of Art”. You will recall several columns in the Citizen in recent weeks where Susan Down familiarized our readers with the watersheds that have inspired the show.

This show included works created by individuals and community groups that celebrate our ecosystem. The exhibit will open with a special event on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
