Children and youth of all ages along with the Missoula Children’s Theatre brought an entertaining musical production to the Hazeltons last week called Treasure Island.
The play was an original adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel and focused on the young and mischievous Jim Hawkins, played by Casey Muldoe, who lived with his mother who was played by Sara Mae Johnson, and his six sisters in a seaside village on the coast of Maine.
With auditions held last Monday, the large group of young actors and actresses and the two leading the way from the Missoula Theatre, Katie Northcutt and Caity Johnson, they had their work cut out to be ready in only four days. To the delight of many spectators and organizers, they were not disappointed.
“It is amazing to see what they have accomplished in only a few days,” drama teacher Barb Janze said. “We have all learned a lot and had a lot of fun doing it and I hope we can bring them back year after year.”
There were many who helped make the production a success and contributed through participating as well as behind the scenes and they are as follows: Jim’s sisters were Jeannie – Quianna Denny, Janie – Shay Lynn Sampson, Jennie – Arianne Eftoda, Joanie – Mary Letendre, Jinnie – Brooke Wale and Jan – Hailey Spooner. The pirates were Cap’n Patches – Johnny Morgan/Ricky Letendre, Davey the Letterman – Robert Charette, Sing Sing Sam – Max Beertema, Goldie the Hun – Hailey MacDonald, Rosie the Red- Charlotte Pole, Whitey – Eliza Kelway and Big Ol’ Blue – David Charette.
The Ruffians were played by James Boyd, Jacob McRae and David Wernli.
The Villagers were; Natalie Pole, Paul Peterson, Nadia Wesley, Jade Woloshyn-Watson, Angela Wesner, Harper Johnson, Lauren Alex, Paoio Rubinato, Elisa Paranich, Kaitlyn Nikkel, Tanika Simms, Emily Paranich, Chante Simms, Royelle Williams, Hailey Jo Wilson and Devin Mould.
The Seagulls who flew around the stage were: Santina Rubinato, Chey Johnson, Roche Simms, Tim Wulms, Galadrielle Burgess, Tyler Anderson, Ashtan Burns, Scott Barnes, Patience Muldoe, Cypress Koch-Demaio, Jordan Hurst-Olson and Jackson Wrigglesworth. Wrigglesworth was also the trusty parrot, Cap’n Flint.
Behind the scenes there were several assistant directors who played a major role throughout the week and during the production and they were Sanne Wulms, Brittney Jackson, Drake Wesley, Ricky Letendre, Brooke Spooner and Kurtis Adams.
The musical accompaniment on piano was Grace Janze.
