Ontario-based Trio d’Argento are virtuosic interpreters of chamber music, who bring their lively concert to the Golden Civic Centre this November 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Earning standing ovations at the University of Toronto, Wilfrid Laurier University, and innumerable other venues, both provincially and across the country, Trio d’Argento combined great musical skills with a conversational onstage manner.

The members of Trio d’Argento bring a relaxed and informative attitude to the realm of classical music.

These versatile artists sometimes include jazz and other musical exotica in their repertoire, and have promised that the performance in Golden will feature “a world music twist and a surprising Schubert.”

The group’s flautist, Sibylle Marquardt, is a native of Germany who moved to Canada in 1997.

Her extensive orchestral experiences in Europe include performing with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich under Sir Colin Davis, and several other orchestras.

Latterly she has played with the Windsor Symphony and the Toronto Philharmonia.

Peter Stoll is a gifted, in-demand clarinetist who performs regularly in Toronto with numerous orchestral and chamber groups, and has toured extensively in the United States and across Europe.

He recently recorded “re-imagined chamber music” with members of the renowned Canadian Brass.

Adding lots of pianistic panache is Todd Yaniw, a much-lauded prizewinner whose many accomplishments include earning a silver medal at the prestigious Eastman International Piano Competition.

Marquardt and Stoll play many different sizes of flutes, clarinets, and even saxophone, thus offering a varying and much wider palette of sonic colouration than is usually the case with a classical trio.

Expect classical music at its most personable and enjoyable.

After Trio d’Argento on November 30, people in Golden can get into the Christmas spirit with the Sultans of String, who perform Christmas Caravan on December 3 at the Civic Centre, 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are available at the Art Gallery of Golden, or at the door on the night of the show.
