The Envision Financial Twilight Concert series kicked off last week, marking the unofficial start of summer in Mission.
The series, which runs every Wednesday and Friday evening in Fraser River Heritage Park until the end of August, features musicians from across Canada, as well as members of the rich local music scene.
Kitchen Sync hits the Twilight stage on Friday, bringing its distinctive ability to cover a wide range of musical genres. This band has been playing original music in venues in and around Mission for 15 years.
Bandleader and local music teacher Liisa Nessim writes most of the group’s repertoire. Her inspiring work has established Kitchen Sync as a band that has its own unique sound and has garnered a solid fan base over the years.
Passionate about nurturing new and emerging voices, Kitchen Sync core members Nessim, Jan Giffen, Leonard Janzen and Les Hatklin are always happy to bring new musicians with them to the stage. This time around, special guests Mera Hatklin, Beth Nessim and Richard Klemm will join them for what should be a wonderful evening of music.
On Wednesday, June 21, the series is happy to welcome the return of Blackfox. Made up of veteran musicians from the community, this group has been playing together in various venues in the Fraser Valley for years.
They are known for presenting a little bit of everything in their concerts, including yodeling.
The concerts take place rain or shine and the Special Olympics team will be on site to assist with parking as they have been proudly doing for more than 20 years. The concerts are free and everyone is welcome.
The Twilight team is delighted to be part of the District of Mission’s 125 celebrations. Concert audiences can pick up their 125 Passport at the Envision tent on site at Fraser River Heritage Park and receive an official stamp.
Collect all the stamps and be eligible to win some great prizes.
