SURREY — Some details about this year’s Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair were announced today (Monday).
One of North America’s most notable rodeos returns for its 70th year this May Long Weekend with more competitions, live entertainment, food and more all-ages fun.
The Cloverdale Invitational Rodeo will once again feature the world’s best riders as they compete for cash prizes in roughstock rodeo events, including Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding and Ladies Barrel Racing. Kids also get their turn in the spotlight with the Mutton Bustin’ competition.The BC Country Music Association (BCCMA) will be hosting a meet-and-greet in its pavilion this year, with more than 50 artists performing from May 20 to 23. The pavilion, called Boots and Buckles, is open to all ages and is free until 8 p.m., when it will transform into a dance hall with live music for 19-plus fair attendees.Fan-favourite West Coast music duo Twin Kennedy, featuring twins Carli and Julie Kennedy, will be welcomed to the Cloverdale Live Outdoor Entertainment Stage for shows all weekend (see promo video below). Robyn and Ryleigh, Appaloosa and the Chris Buck Band will also perform there.
Country artist Chad Brownlee, the former hockey player turned musician, will perform on Sunday, May 22.
Other special performances this year include the Express Clydesdales and Niki Cammaert Flundra (pictured), professional trick rider and liberty horse entertainer.
The Longhorn Saloon will be a stage for daily performances by Ettinger & Big 50 and the Ken McCoy Band.Elsewhere, the 5th annual World Freestyle Round-Up will feature top skateboard athletes from around the world.Another returning favourite is the West Coast Lumberjack Show.People can pre-purchase gate admission at selected London Drugs stores and save $2.
