Twin Peaks, BettyBGidd share stage at Cumberland Hotel

Canadian award-winning Twin Peaks with BettyBGidd — you saw them and loved them two years ago at MusicFest. See them again in concert at the Cumberland Hotel at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.

This is also a special homecoming for Bettyanne and Gidd Hampton (BettyBGidd). Advance tickets at the Cumberland Hotel.

Twin Peaks’ Lindsay Pratt and Naomi Shore are their own triple threats: Both girls swim in gene pools of talent, wit and family love.

However, their music is about something much more captivating than a catalogue of clever songs. It’s the expression of a rare kind of harmony that exists between their spirits – a glimpse at what it might be like to live and love in their remote northern home of Fort St. John, and the adventures they have touring tirelessly back and forth across the country that makes Twin Peaks quite unforgettable.

In 2012 they earned a top-10 spot in CBC Radio 3’s Tracks on Tracks contest, and in 2014 the group rose to the national finals in the CBC Searchlight contest. They’ve taken home a Vancouver Island Music Award for BC Wide Artist of the Year, and both of their albums have been nominated for Western Canadian Music Awards. In 2015 their album, Trouble, won the Western Canadian Music Award for Roots Duo/Group Recording of the Year.

They’re in good company with BettyBGidd too, starting with front man Hampton (vocals/guitar), Bettyanne on accordion and bandmates Dave Tolley, percussion (Xavier Rud, Nine Mile, Michael Franti), and Jesse Hampton, bass (10 Minute Cement, Greasy Garage Band).

The backbone of their work? Stylistically eclectic songs — and a range of influences from John Prine, Greg Brown, Guy Clark and the like, keeping it groovy and real.

BettyBGidd joins Twin Peaks for several Vancouver Island shows including the special homecoming Cumberland show on Oct. 18. Gidd and Hampton couldn’t be happier.

“Moving home, playing with our super-talented northern friends and son Jesse, and sharing the evening with hometown friends, family and Valley folks, feels really good,”   Hampton said.

“It’s sure great to be finding our way home. I hope everyone will come out and enjoy the show and help us celebrate.”

Advance tickets ($20) for Twin Peaks/BettyBGidd are on sale at the Cumberland Hotel.
