Two ‘gifted orators’ coming to the Sid

Captivating Inuit storyteller Michael Kusugak will appear May 11 at 2 p.m. and Janet Marie Rogers will present on June 8 and 9.

The Sid Williams Theatre Society, with funding support from the Vancouver Foundation, welcomes two gifted orators to the theatre stage.

Captivating Inuit storyteller Michael Kusugak will appear May 11 at 2 p.m.

In Inuit culture, storytellers earn their craft by listening to stories told to them as children. These stories are ancient and compelling, told over and over again changing slightly with each teller’s telling.

Michael was introduced to the stories by his grandmother while he was travelling by dog team living in igloos and sod huts at the Arctic Circle.

He weaves these stories with stories of his life, a life of rapid change and adaptation. Michael’s storytelling will transport you to another world.
