The Abbotsford Arts Council will host a new exhibit which includes both the “Christina Lake Series” and “Metallic Drawing Series,” works by local artist Kristin Krimmel.
The Christina Lake Series is a celebration of clouds in which Krimmel tries to capture the dynamic passion of the sky she witnessed while vacationing at an isolated cabin on Christina Lake, B.C. in 2002.
In “The Metallic Drawing Series,” the artist uses metallic inks, graphite and an occasional bit of watercolour to find new ways of expression. This body of work includes drawings of landscapes as well as drawings in which she expresses a sense of humour about the world around us.
Krimmel is a Canadian artist with an exhibiting history spanning four decades. She taught at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design (now Emily Carr University) for six years, and possesses a life interest in the creation of art.
The exhibit will be on display from June 22 to July 17 at the Kariton Art Gallery, located in Mill Lake Park at 2387 Ware St.
Hours of operation are Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The public is invited to meet Krimmel and view her art at the opening reception being held Sunday, June 24, from 1-4 p.m.
