Ninety classical musicians are traveling from UBC’s Vancouver campus to Surrey to perform a free evening concert on Friday.
The UBC Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the university’s 100th anniversary and paying it forward by first sharing their music in an afternoon workshop and performance Friday for young students from the Surrey public schools.
The same evening (Oct. 9) at the Bell Performing Arts Centre (6250 144 St.), a free public concert will feature Debussy’s Prélude à l’après midi d’un faune, Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 and Miller’s Soundscape for a Century Past.
Conductor Jonathan Girard will lead the orchestra.
The concert is at 7 p.m.
