The Pacifica Ukes ukulele orchestra will presenting a free concert and fund-raising salmon barbecue Monday, June 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Spirit Square.
The concert features the highly acclaimed Pacifica Ukes students from Campbell River as well as guest group Time For Uke.
The Pacifica Ukes Orchestra has earned a reputation locally and abroad for its versatility and the excellence of its musical performances. The mostly high school-aged students are selected through an audition process and represent the best from Campbell River’s School District. They are also ranked among the top three ukulele groups in Western Canada.
Also featured is the adult group, Time For Uke. This eight-member ensemble is made up of retired ukulele teachers and a bassist from the Courtenay and Campbell River School districts.
A Salmon barbecue will also be available, courtesy of Marine Harvest, with all proceeds going towards the Pacifica Ukes Hawaii Tour in 2016.
