Quesnel’s International Airshow, SkyFest, kicks off this year with a special Friday Night Twilight Show Friday, Aug. 2 at the Quesnel Regional Airport.
As dusk falls over the airfield, world-class performers flying everything from a F1 Rocket and a Sailplane to a CF-18 and Sukhoi Su-26 will take to the skies to share their love of flying in a way that gets your heart pounding.
You’ll see fires of propulsion shoot out of jet engines as they strain against the pull of gravity during complex manoeuvres — a sight you would miss in the light of day.
Featuring a selection from the ranks of world-class aerobatic acts that will be performing throughout SkyFest weekend, the Twilight Show is a condensed version of the Day Show, with the addition of stunning pyrotechnics displays.
During Friday’s Twilight Show, the CF-18 Demo Team will fly at twilight so you can see the afterburners fire. Other scheduled performers include the SkyHawks military parachute demonstration team; Kopp Motorsports and the PYRO Jet Truck; Jerzy Strzyz, who has been a Canadian Unlimited National Champion for 14 years; and Team Rocket — the only dual formation night pyro aerobatic show in the world.
Gates open at 7 p.m., and the Twilight Show runs from 8:30-10:30 p.m.
Tickets are $30 for an adult or $10 for a youth. There are also family passes available, and there are combo passes that give you access to the Twilight Show and your choice of Saturday or Sunday’s Day Show.
For Saturday and Sunday’s Day Shows, gates open at 9 a.m., and pre-show flying takes place at 11 a.m. The official show runs from noon to 4:30 p.m.
