Gallery Vertigo invites the public to its September exhibitions, featuring two of Vernon’s premier artists, John Lawrence and Allison Griswold.
“The artists’ approaches complement each other in exciting and concrete ways,” said Vertigo director Harold Rhenisch. “They add space to the gallery.”
The main gallery features work by Lawrence, a graduate of the Emily Carr College of Art and Design, who has been exhibiting continuously throughout Canada since 1974.
Lawrence’s show, Restorations, Resurrections and Remembrances, is a collection of multi-media assemblages and paintings.
Vertigo’s smaller Gallery II features sculptures by Griswold.
“My interests include painting, drawing, botanical illustration, raku and garden design,” said Griswold. “I didn’t start carving stone until 2002, when I took a soapstone carving workshop with Deborah Wilson. I was hooked the minute I had a mallet and chisel in my hands.”
The gallery and artists are holding an opening reception on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The show runs from now to Sept. 27, and is open Tuesday to Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m.
Gallery Vertigo is located at #1-3001-31 St., downtown Vernon.
