After months of being holed up in the studio, Vernon hip hop artist Immaculate (Julian Wolansky) has just released his new album, Solitude.
“This album is a collection of songs written in the last year, during a time when I’ve found myself almost completely withdrawn from social life except to work and perform,” he said. “I’ve spent a lot of time doing internal work, using my music as a way to bring it all up and out.”
Solitude includes vocal features from Laryssa Wolansky (Immaculate’s mother), Darice Keating (his girlfriend), Katrina Lawrence (Kelowna), Cryptic Wisdom (Arizona), and Emotionz (Vancouver). It also features production from Finland’s Life and Death Productions, Sway, Keitz Beatz, Vernon’s Kyle English, Tony Fadd and one track completely produced by Immaculate.
“As Brother Ali said, ‘if it comes up, then it must come out,’ so this project is a lot about reflecting on myself and the world, deciding where I fit in and who I want to be,” said Immaculate.
Schooled in audio engineering, Immaculate recorded and mixed everything on the album, with the exception of the track My Hurricane (Life and Death). Mastering was done by Kyle McCormack of Extract Engineering, artwork by Vernon’s Lee Watkins of LMW Photos, and logo design by Derrick Birkmann at Converge Studios.
“I’ve spent countless hours combing over the details of this album, re-recording and re-mixing parts of every song. I feel this is my strongest work to date and I am very proud and excited to share it with the world,” said Immaculate.
To launch Solitude, Immaculate is on his fifth tour in just over a year. The GOLDEN Tour kicked off in Vancouver Feb. 18 with Relic, Ghettosocks, Fresh Kils and Attikus and continues around Western Canada.
