Vernon’s artist-run gallery, Gallery Vertigo is launching its new young artists engagement program thanks to funding from the B.C. Winter Games Legacy Fund.
The gallery is hosting a reception Thursday, May 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. to introduce local youth, teachers and parents on how schools and students can get involved in the program.
“Some exciting features of this program include a youth studio available to any students beginning May 1, and opportunities for artist mentors in literary arts, visual arts, performing arts, and music,” said Markella Mildenberger, a director with Gallery Vertigo and program facilitator. “There are also opportunities to participate on gallery committees: forming community partnerships, collaboration and more.”
The evening will include a brief description of the program, information for students to take to their schools, and how Gallery Vertigo intends to involve youth in its programming and ventures.
