Victoria Youth Orchestra comes to town

Young musicians sure to be a crowd-pleaser

 Music lovers will be treated to a visit by The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra this month.

The event, featuring conductor Yariv Aloni, is part of a 25th anniversary tour that also includes Bamfield, Port Alberni and Courtenay.

Considered one of the finest youth ensembles in the country, the orchestra will perform a community benefit concert and also a concert for school children.   

In Qualicum Beach, The Old School House arts centre will be the beneficiary of the Wed., April 27 concert at 7 p.m. in the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, while the free concert for school children will kick off on Thurs., April 28 at 10:30 a.m. 

All schools in the district have been invited, and home schooled students are welcome to attend as well.

The GVYO’s Symphonic Celebration pays tribute to its solid foundation and looks forward to a bright future. 

Also on the program, is Mozart’s overture to The Magic Flute, Benjamin Britten’s charming Soirées Musicales and two ebullient marches by Sir Edward Elgar.
