Robyn and Ryleigh Gillespie got the party started with a few rock covers and fan favourites later afternoon Friday in Merritt during Rockin’ River Fest.
The two pulled out an electric guitar, in what they called an effort to incorporate more 1980s rock into their music.
Before they hit the stage, the duo told the Langley Advance they “were pumped” for their set, with the Merritt-based festival – only one of the festivals the sisters plan to attend this summer.
The two will be heading to Peachfest soon, and Alberta at the end of August.
When asked how it feels to be hitting the road a few more times, to finish off the summer, the two said as long as they can travel together in their own car, they’re happy to be busy.
“We crank the tunes,” Robyn said, adding their go-to playlist is a “crap mix” of throwbacks.
While working their way through the B.C. Interior, and later over to neighbouring province of Alberta, the two will be showcasing “aspects of rock no one’s ever seen before,” Ryleigh said.
The sibling duo were not the only Langleyites performing in Merritt. Me & Mae’s Shawn Meehan, of Walnut Grove, belted it out on Saturday evening, just before the show headliner Sam Hunt.
