Audiences love The Comic Strippers, and they’re back in the Cowichan Valley for another hilarious night Friday, Oct. 12 starting at 7:30 p.m.
These are seriously funny chaps. Complete with bowties and male stripper alter egos, this troupe, led by Vancouver-based comedian Roman Danylo, will be making a stop in Cowichan, revealing their new moves and exposing the audience to a whole new show.
The last time these gyrating gents performed at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre was November 2015.
They have been on the road ever since, honing their craft and selling out shows all across the country and the result is a better and funnier show than ever before.
So, what’s it all about?
The show follows the lives of four fictitious male strippers — all named Chip — who attempt to gain respect by putting on an improv comedy show.
It combines parody theatre with some truly terrible dance moves as the guys start self-indulgently voguing when the music starts blaring in this sexy-larious show that is completely unscripted.
There will be no extreme nudity, just extreme hilarity as these guys take off their shirts and take on audience suggestions creating an unpredictable show that is an entertaining ride for men and women alike.
“It’s kind of a weird cross between Thunder From Down Under, Blue Man Group, and Whose Line Is It Anyway,” Danylo says. “For the most part, the show is pretty clean. There’s almost no swearing, and compared to other comedy shows I’ve been a part of, this is one has the cleanest content.”
He adds, “The best way to describe it is: it’s a parody of a male stripper show — it’s a comedy. No one’s going to see anything horrible or scarring.”
While there is no full nudity, audience members are advised that the show incorporates some adult themes and is restricted to 19+.
Tickets for this show are $35 each. They are available in person at the Cowichan Ticket Centre, or call 250- 748-7529 or go online to cowichanpac.ca.
