SURREY — A day before he was set to play Surrey’s Party for the Planet festival, Shawn Hook has released a new single and video he recorded with Vanessa Hudgens.
The Vancouver-raised Hook’s new “Reminding Me” song (on Hollywood Records/Universal Music Canada) features his high, soulful voice in a romantic and slightly seductive duet with Hudgens, marking her return to the music world following a hiatus.
The track is produced by Stephen “KOZ” Kozmeniuk, who also helped take Hook’s piano-driven “Sound of Your Heart” to top-40 hit status a couple of years back.
Hook is set to headline Surrey’s annual Party for the Planet, an Earth Day celebration, on Saturday, April 22 at Surrey City Hall Plaza.

The video for “Reminding Me” was filmed in Los Angeles in the John Lautner-designed Goldstein House, famous for such cult film classics as “The Big Lebowski.”
Hook said he’s very proud of the song’s lyrics, which he co-wrote with Ethan Thompson of Ocean Park Standoff and Jonas Jeberg.
“We really captured the emotions of moving on from a relationship too soon,” he stated.
“We didn’t settle,” Hook added. “We pushed ourselves as writers to come up with the most infectious melodies and poignant lyrics. Vanessa added a beautiful highlight to the track, and I’m very excited for the world to hear it.”
This week, Hook will perform in Surrey, Kelowna and Trail, and will be releasing a new EP of music this summer.
