This year, VIU’s annual juried student art show asked students to return to a foundational art form.
From tonight until April 9, the View Gallery presents Puzzle, a drawing exhibition favouring work done in grayscale.
VIU student curator Christine Battye said drawing is a basic skill that all art students learn before specializing their practices in their subsequent years of study.
“Puzzle was inspired by trying to understand our roots and our routes,” Battye explained. “Where we come from, where we’re going.”
WHAT’S ON … Puzzle: An Exhibition of Student Drawings opens at the View Gallery, VIU Bldg. 330, on Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m. Show runs until April 9.
