The Elvis Show is a rip roaring comedy musical extravaganza incorporating the techniques of clown, mime, music, song, dance, magic, puppetry, illusion, audience participation and ventriloquism.
As a solo performer, Lawrence Smythe has performed for Cirque du Soleil, Just for Laughs and at such prestigious venues as Caesars Palace, Smithsonian Institute, National Arts Center and John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performance Arts.
Smythe is originally from the Island (Victoria). His mother, brother and family live in Campbell River. His mother Margaret Smythe, 92 years young, lives at Ironwood Residence and was an inspiration to little Larry as a child.
When he was a young fellow she would have friends over to the house to play music and sing, she also did comedy impersonations. She is a regular at Karaoke night at her care home and gets up to sing and tell jokes once a month.
Smythe presents The Elvis Show at the Rivercity Players Theater in Campbell River on Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. in French and at 7:30 p.m. in English.
“It’s exciting to have an opportunity to bring this show to such a beautiful theater as the Rivercity Players to perform this comedy musical extravaganza for my family and the people of Campbell River,” Smythe said.
Tickets are $15 and $10 for 12 years of age and under. The age range of this show is from 5-105 – An excellent family show. Tickets are available at the Tidemark Ticket Centre or at Rivercity players Tuesday and Thursday between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
