The current art exhibit features artist, Carol Schulz, and her colourful watercolour paintings.

This exhibit, titled Impressions of the Seasons, runs until Oct. 29 at the Rollin Art Centre.

Schulz’s paintings capture the vibrant colours of autumn while whispering the soft colours of spring. Every wall is covered by beautiful landscapes, celebrating all seasons.

Join us in the gallery Saturday, Oct. 1 from 1-3 p.m. for an opportunity to meet Schulz and share some refreshments.

Classical concerts

The Alberni Classical Concert Committee has formed and agreed to plan a concert series and pre-sell subscriptions during October and November to provide funds for these concerts.

The committee has organized three concerts, with the first concert tentatively planned for Feb.12, 2017 with the Bergmann Piano Duo.

The second and third concerts will feature the Borealis String Quartet on April 9 and Musica Intima on May 14.

Concerts will take place on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. at Char’s Landing.

Admission will be by series subscription only, at $100 for all three concerts. There will be no individual concert tickets sold.

The artists and dates listed above are dependent on the sale of 100 subscriptions.

Subscriptions are available at the Rollin Arts Centre, Char’s Landing box office or from committee members.

All artists selected for the concert series have international reputations.

Find out where they settled, what jobs they did and the rich culture they brought with them. We know we had a large Italian-Canadian community right here in Port Alberni.

This event takes place at the Alberni Museum. It’s free and open to all.

Following the meeting, you will have a chance to purchase Bowen’s book and enjoy a social time over tea and coffee.
