According to B.C. Parks’ events calendar website, there will be a treasure hunt along the Wells Gray Park corridor on July 31, the Sunday before B.C. Day.
The day will start with a pancake breakfast at North Thompson Park and teams will be given the first set of clues for the hunt. The hunt will take people up into Wells Gray Park, as far as Clearwater Lake. Clues will lead people along gentle hiking/walking trails to park highlights.
Organizers will introduce people to the culture and history of the park as well as interesting ecological aspects. The day will end back at North Thompson park with a barbeque and prizes for winners.
For those who wish to participate, but will be camping in the park, Park Operators will have the treasure hunt list for spontaneous participation over the weekend. Leading up to the event, keep an eye open for trivia info that would be helpful for the treasure hunt.
Organizers will also be holding an art and photo competition for the community and the community will cast their ballots for their favorite entry.
Wells Gray Park is the fourth largest provincial park in B.C., and as such, has something for everyone!
