The refreshing taste of oysters and B.C. wines are coming together for some very West Coast-flavoured events.
Summer on the Half Shell is a series of three evening events that will see Sardis Park Wines and the Town Butcher serve up all the most loved elements of summer.
This mix of oysters (shucked by Bill Turnbull of the Town Butcher), wine pairings, live music by local Jazz Banditz, and a mixed grill, is Sardis Park Wines owner Kim Murphy’s way of ensuring the people of Chilliwack have a reason to step out in style this summer.
“Summer is about patios, music, party dresses and sparkling, cold wine,” she says. “Live music events in wine country have been gaining popularity and I wanted to offer something like that close to home.”
On Thursday, Aug. 18 attendees can enjoy oysters on the half shell paired with a unique variety of Murphy’s specialty, VQA wines from the many fabulous wineries of British Columbia.
“I want people to try different pairings, so they can see that it really does make a difference to the taste of both the food and the wine,” she adds.
The Town Butcher is offering the oysters exclusively to the Summer on the Half Shell events. He will also be serving up a mixed grill feast at each event.
The series started on July 21, and the next event is Aug. 18. The third in the series is on Sept. 15, a last hurrah before the season changes to a focus on new red wines.
Tickets are $79. The events run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and are held at Sardis Park Wines at the corner of Vedder and Keith Wilson roads.
