It might not be Ukee Days, but it’ll be fun none-the-less.
On Wednesday, Aug. 25, the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce is hosting an inaugural West Coast Summer Night Market from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Seaplane Base Road in Ucluelet.
The family-friendly evening will feature over 20 vendors from both Tofino and Ucluelet, plus live music from Geoff Johnson and children’s entertainment from Sharky Balloons.
Seika Anderson, Night Market founder and Common Ground Market manager, said the Ucluelet Brewing Co. will also be on site serving up craft beer.
“People can stroll around the market sipping local beers while shopping,” said Anderson.
She said the idea for a night market was sparked to give locals a chance to peruse the artisans market as more often than not locals have to work on the weekends and not able to visit the market during daytime hours.
“It’ll happen rain or shine. Start your Christmas shopping or get those presents you want to pop in the mail,” said Anderson, adding that the West Coast Night Market is for tourists too.
“People tend to leave a piece of their heart on the West Coast when they visit. Owning a piece of local art allows them to take a bit of the Coast home,” she said.
Can’t get to the Aug. 25 event? A second West Coast Night Market is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 29.
