Western Speedway has been up and running (or is that up and racing?) for over a month now, and if you haven’t been yet this Saturday is the night to break your losing streak. The Strawberry Cup will see non-wing sprints, Island Series stock cars, Old Time Racing Association cars and IMS4 mini stocks gearing down for a big night of racing. If you like the smell of rubber, the taste of fuel and a whole lot of noise (all good things, by the way, no sarcasm here), check it out. Races start at 6:30 p.m.
• For something quieter head on out to the Island Chefs’ Food Festival at Fort Rodd Hill on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. At $50 a head (for adults, $25 for youth. Get your tickets ahead of time) it isn’t cheap, but well worth the money. You’ll get to sample food from the best chefs in the region using the best local ingredients available. Check out the full story in this Gazette.
