Live soap opera returns to Tom Rooney
Episode three of “As the Port Churns” airs live tonight from inside the Tom Rooney Playhouse. If you missed the first two shows don’t worry, no experience is required. Catch our recap here. Who will save the mermaid? Who is the father of Ace’s child? Who is in danger of a broken heart?
Check it all out Friday night. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Homework and at the door. All ages welcome and the show runs for approximately and hour.
Support the student Science Fair at the Port Interpretive Centre
School District 52 students present their science fair projects to the public on Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at the Port Interpretive Centre on Cow Bay Road.
String Quartet at the Lester Centre
The Borealis String Quartet, in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Music Festival, takes the stage on Sunday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lester Centre of the Arts.
Be soothed by the pianists, clarinettists and violinists. Tickets can purchased at Cook’s Jewellers and the Lester Centre. Discounts are available for students and seniors. See our preview on the event here.
Loaded Throwdown
Loaded Sports is hosting its annual Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Event on Saturday at Shames Mountain.
It’s a free event for all ages, with various age and gender-specific categories. Helmets will be mandatory and contestants need to sign a waiver. If under 19, parent must sign as well.
Registration will take place at the lodge from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. and the contest begins at 1 p.m.
Also at the mountain this weekend will be the annual Slush Cup, held on Sunday at 4 p.m, which is an event that consists of skiing or boarding across a 45-foot long pool of slushy water at the bottom of the hill.
Softball registration
The final chance to register for the Prince Rupert Minor Softball Association will be in the Raven Room at the civic centre on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dragon boat racing recruitment
The Rainbow Warriors are recruiting new members for their upcoming season. The team will have a final information session on Sunday at 2 p.m., at Prince Rupert Middle School.
