LEGO: Myths & Muses
From the famed lighthouse at Alexandria to the Greek underworld, explore fascinating histories and mythologies of the Mediterranean as told with LEGO®. The LEGO® Club of Vancouver presents a world of gods and goddesses, heroes and monsters from ancient times, all created from our favourite block! On display to September 15.
Baskets for Barter
Working closely with the Musqueam and Stó:lō Nations, the Surrey Museum presents their own baskets alongside exceptional examples of historic and contemporary Coast Salish baskets from the Museum of Anthropology, Royal BC Museum, and New Westminster Museum and Archives. On display September 29–December 24.

Make Believe Birthday Parties
Invite your friends and choose a theme for a unique birthday party: pirates, medieval royalty or Egyptian nobles. Must prebook at 604-592-6956. Saturdays, 2-4 p.m., $12.50 per child, birthday child is free.
Kids Can Knit and Weave
Boys and girls have fun knitting quick and easy projects, and learn how to weave on a variety of looms. Projects include colourful coasters, bookmarks and small mats. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Thursday, September 27, from 4-6 p.m, 6 sessions $82 (8-12yrs).
Aboriginal Baskets
Join a local cedar basket weaver and hear about the history of cedar weaving. Learn how cedar bark is harvested, processed and woven into beautiful, functional items like baskets, hats and capes. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Saturday, September 29, 1 p.m.-2:15 p.m., 1 session $10 (16yrs+)
Cedar Weaving Workshop
Join a local weaver for an educational and creative cedar weaving workshop. Find out about the unique properties and challenges of using cedar, while making a bracelet with prepared cedar strips. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Saturday, September 29, 2:30-4 p.m., 1 session $24 (16+yrs).

Be a Heritage School Program Volunteer
Are you interested in history? Do you like working with children? Historic Stewart Farm, Surrey Museum and Surrey Archives need volunteers to lead programs for elementary students on Surrey’s history and First Nations culture. Full training provided. From Field to Table: The Pioneer Kitchen Garden Revival
The traditional pioneer kitchen garden is the subject of this exhibition. Explore growing, preparing and serving food and learn about culinary history from seed selection to harvesting. Explore food and drink, recipes and home remedies and view a variety of kitchen gadgets. Learn how the food revival has inspired communities to work together to become more sustainable. Mushroom Talk
The Lower Mainland is home to some of the most diverse forms of fungi found anywhere in the world. Join our expert and discover the common and unusual types of mushrooms that can be found. Must pre-register at 604-592-6956. Saturday, September 8, 10 a.m. to noon, 1 session, $15 (16+yrs).
From Field to Table Exhibit Opening – Celebrate the fall season by viewing the new exhibit, then take in the outdoor fruit booths. Purchase heritage apple and pear trees and grape plants from the Apple Lady, and view a display of apple varieties. Learn about fruit growing with the BC Fruit Testers and master gardeners, and watch the apple cider press demonstration. Saturday, September 15, noon to 4 p.m., all ages, drop in, by donation.
