Gifted singer and songwriter Paul Rumbolt, will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at First United Church, with a workshop to follow the next day.
An accomplished musician and arranger, songwriter and performer, Rumbolt travelled North America in search of experiences that would ultimately become songs for his new album, SongSmith.
A native of Newfoundland and a 15-year resident of the Alberta Foothills area, Rumbolt has performed on large stages, in intimate coffee houses, churches and house concerts across the country.
For Rumbolt, the most rewarding aspect of a lifetime of music has been the opportunity to share, collect, and create stories with the people for whom he has been privileged to perform.
Now, with the release of his fifth album, Rumbolt returns to his musical roots with work that speaks of his love of the people and places a life in ministry and music has brought him.
He draws on his gift of storytelling as he revisits the folk genre that has influenced him most.
A fixture in the southern Alberta musical community, he has a regional and national following with a fan base that ranges from folk-lovers to faith communities, to those that simply enjoy his intricate song stylings and his incredible voice.
Rumbolt’s current concert tour will focus on his new album, SongSmith, and favourites from other albums, plus a few new tunes.
The next day from 1 to 4 p.m., Rumbolt will share his talents in a fun, informative and interactive workshop.
This three-hour workshop will cover such topics as the power, music and rhythm of a song along with “Who me? Write a song?”
Sunday’s workshop takes place at the church and costs $15 at the door for adults and is free for students.
Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $ 5 for students. Combo tickets for both the concert and the workshop are $20.
