As part of First Nations cultural awareness day at William Konkin Elementary School in Burns Lake, students sampled aboriginal cuisine.
Rhoda Abraham prepared soapberries, newus also known as Indian ice cream, Geraldine Alec made Bannock and Beverly Michel prepared samples of a variety of traditional foods.
A display was also set up by the Lake Babine Treaty Office showing a local family tree stretching back over 200 years. All grade levels participated throughout the day.
