The Kent Harrison Arts Council welcomes everyone to visit the Ranger Station Art Gallery this winter. We have a number of festive activities in December and some great gift ideas for the special people on your list. This weekend, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, in partnership with the Harrison Festival Society, we are transforming the gallery into a seasonal wonderland for the Harrison Christmas Crawl.
We will be stamping Christmas Crawl passports, offering hot apple cider and delicious treats to all our visitors during the event. The Kent Harrison Arts Council’s annual Small Works show is on until Dec. 8, and most of the local artwork is for sale at a variety of prices to suit nearly every budget.
Andy Hillhouse, the new artistic director of the Harrison Festival, will be performing acoustically at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. A gifted musician and former member of Celtic Funk band Mad Pudding, Andy has toured all over North America and parts of Europe. There will also be a festive-themed photo booth available on-site during the weekend. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.
On Dec. 7 we, and our artist in residence, Anouk Jonker, are hosting a Children’s Christmas Craft workshop. We will be providing all the materials needed to make beautiful gift tags, greeting cards, tree decorations and wrapping paper. The workshop is free of charge, but with a suggested donation to the gallery of $2.
Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult friend. Beginning on Dec. 14 our members show will begin and carry on through January. Starting on Dec. 9 our winter hours will be Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and we will be closed on weekends until February.
The gallery will be closed for Christmas holidays, from Dec. 21 to Jan. 5.
Wishing all our patrons and members a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year.
