The “nearly world-famous” DuffelBag Theatre is visiting Chilliwack to bring the magic of Cinderella alive for local audiences. Appearing on the Chilliwack Cultural Centre’s Hub International Theatre stage, the Ontario-based production is sure to delight all ages with its action-packed, interactive rendition of the famous fairy tale.
With a motto of “Entertaining the Galaxy … One Planet at a Time,” every one of the DuffelBag Theatre’s shows is unique as they invite children from the audience up on stage to partake in the show with their own ideas and imaginings. Taking cues from their pint-sized co-performers, the DuffelBag cast is able to fill each performance with excitement and unpredictable twists and turns.

“For the audience, the shared experience of being part of one of our performance is unlike any other,” says Marcus Lundren, DuffelBag Theatre’s artistic director and founding member.
“Our show is the sort of thing families love to come to together and share – there’s a lot of joy and humour. It’s a truly fantastic family experience (and) something that will no doubt be reenacted around the dinner table (again and again).”
With a heavy dose of physical comedy, the DuffelBag Theatre company ups the artistic ante with noticeable, amplified sounds, and the improvisational skills of the cast, which helps create unpredictable twists and turns in the well-known story.
The DuffelBag Theatre presentation of Cinderella is on Feb. 12, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Centre Box Office, online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
