The Comox Valley is excited to welcome the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular back for its 12th season.
It’s hard to believe that it’s that time of year again – another show has been written. The four spectacular singers are busy learning their music and warming up their voices. The dazzling dancers are stretching their limbs and getting their sparkle on.
The marvelous musicians are prepping music, plucking strings, tinkering the keys and rustling the drum skins. The costumes are arriving from around the world and production workshop is filling with glitter and sequins.
Katy Bowen-Roberts, Comox resident, artistic director and show creator, is thrilled to announce the local talent who are set to work in this year’s show. A cast of 14 professional singers, dancers and musicians have been booked for this year’s show.
Cast making a return home to the valley include Lindsay Sterk of Pantuso Dance, who is set to choreograph and co-direct the show again. Connor Lucas returns to us from his performing career in Toronto and most recently his performance in Anne of Green Gables at the Charlottetown Festival in PEI.
Robinson Wilson is preparing to create a new lighting design for his third season with the team and Karen McKinnon is gearing up to photograph the show on opening night at the Sid Williams Theatre.
This year’s singing and dancing extravaganza includes musical tributes to Buddy Holly and Richie Valens, Nat King Cole, Michael Jackson, Edith Piaf, the Rat Pack, a collection of Disney classics, a Motown medley starring the Supremes, Bing Crosby’s classic White Christmas as well as many more classical hits and Christmas favourites.
It’s fast-moving and colorful. It will take you on an emotional journey through a wide variety of music and dance from rock & roll to Broadway, jazz and classical, interwoven with touching readings and stories.
