Zappacosta returns for fundraiser

Two fundraising concerts are coming up to help the Pen High music department, including a concert with multi Juno-winner Alfie Zappacosta.

First, three bands are coming together for a night of jazz-fuelled fun with Jazz in January at the Shatford Centre on Jan. 21.

Pen High’s junior jazz and senior jazz bands are set to be joined by the Thursday Nite Jazz Band for the fundraiser.

All of the proceeds go towards the Pen High music program to offset tour expenses.

Tickets are $20 available at www.penhighmusic.com, from Pen High music students or at the door.

Then in February one of Canada’s prominent singer-songwriters Alfie Zappacosta returns to Penticton for another fundraiser show.

Over his 40-year career, Zappacosta has becomes known as one of Canada’s best singers with award-winning song-writing skills. He brings his catalogue of music which includes the hits Passion, Nothing Can Stand In Your Way (written with David Foster) and Overload from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack and more.

Zappacosta comes to to the Shatford Centre on Feb. 4.

The Penticton Secondary School jazz band is performing a pre-concert before the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
