There are now seven candidates looking for votes in Chilliwack-Hope.
An updated list from Elections Canada lists Daniel Lamache from the Christian Heritage Party of Canada (CHP). He joins Rob Bogunovic (People’s Party of Canada), Arthur Green (Green Party), Heather McQuillan (NDP), Dorothy-Jean O’Donnell (Marxist-Leninist), Mark Strahl (Conservative), and Kelly Velonis (Liberal).
There is no contact information listed for Lamache at this time and no press release has been sent to the Hope Standard. His name also is not listed on the official CHP website. The party has a “prol-life, pro family” focus. The website states: “The CHP is Canada’s only pro-Life federal political party, and the only federal party that endorses the Judeo-Christian principles enshrined in the Canadian Constitution: ‘Canada was founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God’ – capital ‘G’: the God of the Bible -‘and the rule of law.'”
The deadline for candidates to file their paperwork with Elections Canada was Sept. 30. The official list of candidates will be updated until Oct. 2, the website states.
The Hope and District Chamber of Commerce announced on Oct. 1 that they will host an all candidates meeting in Hope in the Recreation Centre’s Conference Room on Oct. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Questions for the candidates can be raised at the meeting, and can be emailed to info@hopechamber.net.
The Chilliwack-Hope candidates have already participated in several such meetings, all held in Chilliwack to date.
