In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Armando Rossetto at the age of 83. He was a beloved husband and leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Johanna (Yoka) Rossetto (nee Wouters). Together they raised two children: Roberto Rossetto (Denise) and Liana Schuler (Derrick). He was a loving Nonno to his five grandchildren: Nico (Jessica), Antonio, Dario (Bailey), Brayden and Sierra.
Armando was the youngest of 4 children and was born in Cavaso Del Tomba, Italy to Innocente and Anna (Gasparetto) Rossetto. He will be reunited with his parents, two brothers, a sister and their spouses: Giusseppe Rossetto (Cecelia), Siro Rossetto (Cecelia) and Maria Grazie Calzavara (Antonio).
Armando followed his brothers and immigrated to join them in Nanaimo at the age of 19. He learned his trade as a bricklayer in Italy and when he arrived in Nanaimo he worked for different companies as a labourer and then eventually started A. Rossetto Masonry. Aside from his precise masonry skills, he was very well known for his amazing garden – there was always something to harvest year-round.
He was a long-time, dedicated member of the Felice Cavallotti Lodge where he volunteered, played cards, bocce, and pool right to the end. His name is on many trophies there and he also represented them in 2007 at the BC Senior Games and was a Silver Medalist in Bocce.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, May 16 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 am followed by a Celebration of Life at the Felice Cavallotti Lodge.
The family would like to thank Dr. Marcus Barron & Dr. Neil Rogers, and the nurses and staff in Palliative Care at Nanaimo Hospital during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Forever in our hearts, forever in our memories
