The Nevaeh Day Spa is a bit off the beaten path, but once you wind your way there you will find the little piece of heaven on a pretty property on Grandon Road in Qualicum Beach.

Jennifer Schneider has been operating her full service spa from a quaint little cottage in that neck of the woods for six years, providing a relaxing environment for her clients.

Schneider has been an esthetician since 1995 and she, along with her assistant Michele Ross who has been doing esthetics since 2002, will be on hand Saturday, April 28 at the Forever Fit Wellness Fair at the Qualicum Beach Community Hall to demonstrate a few of the many treatments they have on their spa menu.

Several local vendors, holistic practitioners, health care providers and recreational clubs will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer questions and perform demonstrations. Schneider will be bringing her cold-light laser machine and will be offering demos of the anti-aging therapy.

Cold-light laser utilizes light therapy to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and Schneider said it is a healthy way of treating aging.

“The low level light therapy stimulates production of collagen and cells. It tightens skin, gives a look of lifting and treats redness in the skin. It doesn’t hurt … it’s pain free, non invasive and relaxing. Because it enters your bloodstream it gives a feeling of overall relaxation.”

Schneider said they will also be offering mini make-overs.

Although the salon is a bit out of the way Schneider said she has many returning clients who enjoy the serenity of the location and the personalized attention they receive.

She believes it is important for your over-all health to take time out for a relaxing treatment, even if it is just a short time.

Another way to de-stress is through yoga.

April 28 is Yoga Day for Human Rights and the Oceanside Yoga Centre and Boutique will be doing yoga demonstrations at the Wellness Fair.

At the yoga center at 702 Memorial Avenue in Qualicum Beach, an extra class has been added to the regular schedule on Saturday at 4 p.m. which will be suitable for all levels.

All classes on April 28 are by donation with proceeds going to Amnesty International.
