Alano Club offers refuge for those in recovery

It's not affiliated with 12-step groups, but the Alano Club in Vernon offers a safe place for groups to meet

A safe, stable facility can make all the difference for people in recovery.

That’s where the Vernon Alano Club comes in. It provides  a place to go for those in 12-step recovery programs to meet and hold events. Thanks to the support and reasonable rent offered by Knox Presbyterian Church, the Vernon Alano Club was registered as a non-profit society in 2011.

The Alano Club is not affiliated with any part of the 12-step groups, instead it provides an impressive meeting room (the original chapel at the church)  as well  as a full kitchen and cozy sitting area for fellowship. The large parking lot and level entries make it handicap-accessible. The low rents charged to groups barely meets rent and hydro so on Sept. 20 they will be holding their first ever garage sale and barbecue,  rain or shine. All proceeds will go towards maintenance and winter snow removal. Drop in for great deals, tasty food and a tour. Donations are appreciated; if you can help, please call 250-542 5912.
