Learn to reach your potential at Mission’s third annual Back to Health … For Good fair this Saturday at the Leisure Centre.
“Be the best you can be,” said organizer Tracey Takahashi.
The fair begins at 11 a.m., with an opening ceremony taking place at 11:10 a.m.
At 11:20 a.m. keynote speaker, Olympic medallist Brent Hayden, will take the stage for a talk on personal excellence. He will also be available to meet fans and sign autographs until 12:20 p.m. Seating is limited to the first 225 people who attend.
There will be free activities and a chance for you to learn more about health-related services in the community throughout the day.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for people to learn how easy it is to get active and stay healthy,” said Mayor Ted Adlem in a press release. “Mission has incredible facilities and health professionals right here in the community and we would like everyone to come down and see that Mission has to offer.”
Blackberry Kitchen chef Kerry Martin will host a healthy cooking demonstration starting at 12:15 p.m., and Nurse Next Door home care services will address caring for aging parents. There will also be numerous activities in the Fitness Studio, car seat safety checks, a CPR demonstration, fire truck tours and obstacle course, a free flu clinic, and information on how to volunteer with the 2014 BC Winter Games.
Other free activities include:
• swimming, 12 to 3 p.m.;
• weight room, 11 to 3 p.m.;
• public skating, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. A free speed-skating demonstration happens at 1 p.m.
