1911From a standpoint of pleasure as well as financially, the hospital dance given in Eureka Hall on Tuesday evening last was a great success. The committee had made every arrangement for the comfort and convenience of their guests, and all who attended enjoyed themselves immensely. Messrs. Rosoman and Holland supplied the music for the occasion in their usual good style. During the evening a number of those present enjoyed themselves at cards and other games.

1921 In the regular meeting of the city council on Monday night last Mayor Newnes suggested a new bylaw prompted by the police commissioner’s complaint regarding the difficulty of inspecting local pool rooms to determine the presence of those under 18 years of age. The  new bylaw would include a provision by which when the blinds on the windows are closed, they are to be left up so as to make inspection of the premises easy from the outside.

1931 To acting Mayor Glasgow fell the honour of selecting the young lady from the public school who is to be Queen of May this year. The drawing took place yesterday forenoon and the Queen elect is Miss Marguerite Topham and the First Maid of Honor will be Miss Madeline Thiselton. Both represent city public school whose turn it was to supply the queen and the maid. Last year the schools east of town supplied Miss Maude Daniels and next year the schools west of town will have this privilege.

1941 This season, under auspices of the newly-formed Little Theatre Association, the citizens of Salmon Arm were privileged to hear The Quaker Girl, as performed by the ambitious group. After sitting for some three-and-a-half hours on a Wednesday evening, one must come to the conclusion that this year’s production was outstanding in both scenery and production.
